Innovative solutions and attention to safety ensured that hospital operations remained uninterrupted during infrastructure upgrades.

About this Project

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, a 171-bed community teaching facility in Jamaica Plain, operates around the clock. The hospital provides a range of services from medical care and surgery to psychiatry, emergency care, and diagnostic procedures.

To ensure a continuous flow of hot water to the hospital, TG Gallagher performed critical HVAC and plumbing enhancements. The team prefabricated the hot water pump rack, which facilitated efficient integration into the hospital’s existing system. Since the hospital couldn’t pause its operations, TGG’s team created a water shutdown strategy that ensured minimal interruption while sustaining efficiency during the construction phase.

Working in the mechanical rooms for prolonged periods of time presented potential hazardous heat exposure to the team. The Safety team developed a strategy to prevent any heat-borne illness so the work could be completed safely and without interruption.
