Originally established in 1854, Taunton State Hospital underwent multiple expansions and renovations throughout the 1900s before being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. In 2016, the state had an immediate need to renovate 16,000 SF of the facility to function as a 34-bed detoxication/drug treatment center to fight the ongoing Opioid crisis.
Due to the age of the structure, coordination and system design was a challenge from the start. Working in a design-assist manner, TG Gallagher met weekly with the project team and design teams to resolve conflicts and challenges. The project was fast tracked and completed in 6 months.
