Located 16 miles from its main campus in Boston, Northeastern’s Burlington campus houses centers for the Department of Homeland Security and the Science Department. They recently added a new addition to the small campus: Building 5. This 100,000 square-foot building contains laboratories for science majors and industry professionals and room for the expansion of the school’s curriculum. TG Gallagher was chosen to complete the HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection portion of this project under Gilbane Construction.
The project included a full-build, core and shell fit out. TG Gallagher prefabricated almost all its installations, such as the carriers, piping and headers, and most of its two penthouses. TG Gallagher worked with the architect and engineer on field designing, approving, and installing a generator exhaust. Gilbane was impressed with TGG’s ability to stay on top of equipment and lead times despite the frequent changes that occurred during the project.
