A new facility for a top technology university in Boston required intricate design and prefab work, demanding advanced exhaust systems for its labs.

About this Project

A new addition to Wentworth Institute of Technology, the Wentworth Center for Engineering, Innovation, and Sciences was constructed to broaden the school’s engineering curriculum, delivering a hands-on learning approach to the department. The building houses several laboratory spaces as well as faculty and staff offices. TG Gallagher worked with Gilbane Construction to provide HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for the project.

The project needed a significant amount of design-assist work, with the engineering and lab space requiring sophisticated exhaust systems. TGG prefabricated all the pipes, hangers, risers, and equipment skids for the building in its climate-controlled shop. As a finishing touch, they donated a faculty office on the Wentworth CEIS’ second floor. When the school opened soon after, the office was named after TG Gallagher.
