Wellesley College is a private women’s school that is home to 2,400 students each year. Sustainability is a core component of the college’s mission. As part of this commitment, the college’s science center underwent major mechanical upgrades. The 300,000 SF multi-discipline science center uses more energy than any other building on campus. TG Gallagher was hired by Consigli on a design-assist, GMP basis to provide new HVAC and plumbing systems to the existing facility. Close coordination with the building’s occupants prevented any disruption to ongoing experiments during the two-year, phased project. Individual lab retro fits to more than 80 fume hoods with respective VAV and exhaust boxes were performed during the school year. TG Gallagher has worked at Wellesley College on numerous projects for more than 25 years.
