One of the world’s leading centers for pediatric burn care, Shriners Hospital for Children-Boston is a 30-bed hospital that also serves as a research and teaching center. The hospital hired TG Gallagher as its mechanical prime contractor to replace its existing cooling towers. The new towers were installed on the roof, allowing the existing space to be cleaned and recovered for useable square footage. With the relocation of the towers to the roof, new structural steel was hoisted and installed to support the cooling towers. The project was executed during the system’s winter shutdown, and was ready to operate for the spring cooling season. By expertly coordinating vendors and subcontractors, and strategically scheduling manpower, TG Gallagher enabled the project to be completed on schedule.
