Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary is an international leader in providing specialty care for disorders of the eye, ear, nose, throat, and neck. The infirmary is dedicated to providing its patients with the best care, and chose TG Gallagher as their design-assist partner to remove and install four crucial air handling units. To allow for continuous operations throughout construction, the upgrades were performed in three phases. The units serve Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary’s surgical area, surgical suites, and patient areas. New structural steel was needed on the 14-story building’s roof to support the custom units, which were installed in two subsequent phases. Due to the busy Charles Circle location, TG Gallagher and the construction team worked together to coordinate rigging with the hospital, neighboring Massachusetts General Hospital, and the City of Boston.
