Located at the northeast corner of Harvard’s Allston campus, Harvard Business School’s 75,000SF three story Ruth Mulan Chu Chao Center houses classroom space, staff offices, function rooms, a kitchen, and outdoor courtyard seating. Residing within the 40 acres of the HBS campus, the Chao Center’s main purpose is as the dining facility for the Executive Education program, which provides more than 95 programs for fostering leadership in talented professionals. The Chao Center aims to enhance the Executive Education program for its 10,000 participants by providing these new spaces for dining, socializing, working, and networking. Aiming for LEED Gold certification, the project falls in line with sustainability goals of HBS.
Acting in a design assist role, TG Gallagher delivered a full range of services including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. This is TG Gallagher’s third design assist project for Harvard. TG Gallagher took advantage of its 40,000SF prefabrication facility in order to get risers for HVAC and plumbing, plumbing bathroom groups, underground kitchen piping, chill beams, and VAVs ready to go. By demonstrating a smooth design assist process, TG Gallagher was able to reduce costs, change orders, and RFIs and successfully deliver the project on schedule and within budget.
